How absurd can culturals get?

Am not here to proclaim that there should be no entertainment programmes for the college students. Neither am I here to declare that inter departmental and collegiate programmes are utter crap. In fact, I jus love them. Well...who wouldn’t love to take part in them? When you have it, you just have to flaunt it. Right? The ramp walks and stage shows, the musical nite and the kuttattam, and of course the celebrity guests (One keeps wondering if it will be Surya-Jyothika or simbu-nayanthara this time)... all this is a part of our college life. However, one thing upsets me seriously. How much bucks should one spend on this gala of 2 days? As far as my college is concerned, its Ur wish. If you have more bucks to spare... you have more chance to win! As a rule, it says that the students should seek no professional help. Rules are meant to be broken of course! So... here we go. Involving everyone... not even sparing the Britto’s troupe. Then.. go around spending loads on the costumes which u can neither return to the shop nor wear it again for social purpose( it will be either full of chamki works or will be in such contrasting adikkara color tat u r sure to attract buffalos!). Then, I don really know how many of them cooperate with each other. Some sort of fight is sure to crop up. Also, you select the piece you are going to perform a day before the D-Day and practice it for a few hours and then lo! You create wonders on stage. Is this is what we are waiting for? Is this what we are spending on? Is this what we are exaggerating much about? Is this what we call culturals? If so... then I would merely call it an act of inanity.
